MicroPort® Invests ~$58M for 51% of IV-OCT Imaging Start-up Argus
MicroPort Scientific Corporation (00853.HK, “MicroPort®”) signed a strategic investment agreement with Suzhou Argus Medical Technology Co., (“Argus”) and the related parties. Under the agreement, MicroPort® will directly invest in Argus and acquire part of the equity from the existing shareholders, with total cost of RMB 372.3 million. After completion of the transaction, MicroPort® will become the controlling shareholder of Argus, with 51% equity interest in Argus.

NTU and SERI launch joint laboratory to develop advanced ocular imaging technologies
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), and the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) have launched a joint laboratory that will develop advanced eye imaging technologies and drug delivery systems.
The new SERI-NTU Advanced Ocular Engineering (STANCE) Laboratory will develop innovations that use light to image the eye – a technique known as “optical coherence tomography” (OCT).
For example, the joint Lab will perfect a triple-beam OCT imaging prototype that illuminates the eye from three different angles and accurately measure blood flow. This can precisely detect diseases in the eye, such as age-related macular degeneration or glaucoma with greater precision.

Recently we entered into a long-term agreement with NinePoint Medical to become the exclusive worldwide distributor for the NvisionVLE® Imaging System with Real-time Targeting™ using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). We believe this product line will enhance the product offerings of our Endotek Division and will be another step to adding therapy and disease-state products to our accessories. Although the products have both 510(k) and CE mark clearances, sales have been limited to the United States due to resource limitations.
